Sonali Patnaik has 15 years of private practice experience, during which she successfully ushered numerous businesses and individuals through the complex processes of visa and GC filings, I-9 compliance, EOIR and AAO litigation, and Naturalizations. Sonali is TBLS Board Certified and managed her prior firm, Patnaik Law Office, PLLC, for over 12 years, after gaining initial experience at larger Dallas area boutique firms. Her clients include companies in the technology, biomedical research, performing arts, import/export, automotive, restaurant and payment processing sectors. A lifelong learner, she is currently studying for CIPP (Certified Information Privacy Professional) exam and analyzes privacy policies for an Austin area start-up. Combining these skills and interests, she plans to focus her practice at Grable Martin Fulton PLLC on Employment-based Immigration, National Interest Waivers, Investor E-1/E-2 filings, corporate technology transactions and data privacy law. Sonali helps her clients to establish policies that mitigate risk and set solid foundations for growth.
Sonali values community involvement, locally and professionally. She is on the Steering Committee of the Texas Minority Counsel Program and on Board of the Dallas South Asian Bar Association. She is also a member of the Richardson Junior League, where she volunteers with and raises funds for local charities. This year, she will serve as a volunteer teacher of weekly ESL Adult conversation classes for the Richardson Adult Literacy Center. She speaks fluent Gujarati and Spanish, and a bit of French, and hopes to improve in all three someday.
In her free time, Sonali moonlights as her family’s chef, vacation planner, and all around gal Friday. She is married to Ashis, and together they have two joyful and rambunctious sons. When not doing chores, homework, or running to soccer games, the family loves to bike ride, play board games, travel and hike together.
Sonali is a Longhorn to her core, having attended The University of Texas at Austin for both her J.D. and Bachelor’s degrees. During law school, she was a board member of Texas Law Fellowships, a student attorney in the UT Immigration Clinic, and earned a Certification in Dispute Resolution. The undergraduate Plan II degree instilled an interdisciplinary curiosity that remains with her today. However, growing up in South Florida during the reign of the Miami Sound Machine might have been the most formative experience of all, as her favorite activity is dance. She trained formally in Bharat Natyam (Indian Classical Dance), completing her Arangetram (1996) and winning a Plan II Model Thesis distinction for her written and performed senior thesis on the effect of diaspora and global influences on classical dance (2001), and taught throughout her years in Austin. She later went on to dabble in everything from salsa to belly dancing, and occasionally still choreographs for kids’ Diwali event performances.
She looks forward to bringing her business and legal experience to Grable Martin Fulton, and to offering her clients the varied expertise of their many great attorneys.
